Ben was born in Hartlepool in August 1990. He grew up listening to music such as The Beatles and Oasis.
At a very young age Ben started playing the piano. After a few years his Dad (Chris) showed him a few chords on the guitar, since then Ben has been playing the guitar a lot and learns most song chords on his own using a little help from the internet.
In 2003 Ben and the family moved to Richmond. Even though he lives in Richmond, Ben tries to go to as many home games in Hartlepool to see the footie. If he's not at the Hartlepool games, in Darlington wearing his Hartlepool shirt getting stick, or out with his mates, you will always find him on the guitar.
Ben every now and again has a little jamming session in front of the family on Sunday evenings with his cousin Adam, and still enjoys playing along with his Dad.
Many people enjoy Ben's Music and have supported him though the early days of jam nights at The Angel Inn, Gilling West. He performedsolo for his first Richmond Live festival at the age of 15 and has since pulled crowds at pubs, clubs, festivals, parties, indie bars and functions.
Last year Ben formed a band with his friends from college. They have played under verious names including K.P and the Salty Nuts, The Six Fiftys, Archer Street, Ben Povey and The Band and also The Ben Povey Band. Their original songs range from raw, energetic indie rock through to acoustic style ballads and swing. All the songs on the latest demo CD are origianals and the band also have a huge repertoire of covers to suit any audience.
